Halfway through the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup it is clear that the series has firmly established itself in the American motorsport scene after just four events. The American offshoot of the “touring car school”, modelled after the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup in Germany, looks back on a successful first half of its maiden season: some 30 drivers aged 16 to 26 from the USA, Canada and Mexico delivered gripping races at the first four rounds with four different winners. The Jetta TDI Cup combines promotion of young talent at reasonable costs with innovative clean diesel technology. Next weekend (19–21 September) the fifth race will be run in Iowa.

Successful start for Volkswagen in the Formula 3 Euro Series: the Italian Edoardo Mortara (Team Signature Plus) in his Volkswagen-Dallara clinched two third places at the Hockenheim season opener, now sharing the top of the standings with an equal points score with the Finn Mika Mäki (Mercedes-Dallara). Franck Mailleux from France (Signature Plus) finished both races in fourth place, now ranking third overall together with the American Charlie Kimball (Mercedes-Dallara). On positions five and six, respectively, the Frenchman Jean Karl Vernay (Signature Plus) and the German Maximilian Götz (RC Motorsport) scored points on Saturday as well, thus contributing to the very good result.
