A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has revealed the first image of its brand new ‘Powered by Ferrari’ car for use in season four (2008/09). The CAD drawing was released ahead of the car’s inaugural shakedown test in Southern England.

A1GP’s own tv commentator and Formula One legend, John Watson, will have the honour of driving the car for the first time, powered by a V8 Ferrari engine producing in the region of 600 bhp.

As part of the build up to the A1GP season finale at Brands Hatch in Kent, where the thrilling championship will be decided in just over a week’s time (2-4 May), A1 Team Great Britain’s Robbie Kerr was in London to celebrate St George’s Day and drum up support for his nation.

A1 Team USA’s Jonathan Summerton made history today when he took his and the team’s first ever A1GP race win in this afternoon’s Feature race at China’s Shanghai International Circuit. Current title leader and pole-sitter Switzerland’s Neel Jani lost second gear early on in the race and fifth gear towards the end so, despite a heroic drive, couldn’t stay in touch with the American car and crossed the line fifth behind title rival New Zealand’s Jonny Reid in fourth.

A1 Team Switzerland’s Neel Jani put in a perfect performance during this morning’s Shanghai Sprint race, dominating the action from pole position to seize his fourth win of the season. Jani also set the fastest lap of the race to pick up maximum championship points and increase his nation’s lead over second-placed New Zealand to 31 after they failed to score. The Swiss team now needs to increase its lead by just two more points to secure the 2007/08 title honours this afternoon, with one round of the championship remaining at Brands Hatch in Great Britain (4 May).

A1 Team Portugal’s Filipe Albuquerque was on superb form today, topping the time sheets in both of the official free practice sessions in Shanghai, as the penultimate round of the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport got underway at the Shanghai International Circuit in cool and cloudy conditions.

Pole sitter A1 Team Germany’s Michael Ammermüller raced to his first A1GP victory in this morning’s inaugural Zhuhai Sprint race at round four of the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season while China’s CongFu Cheng put in an incredible performance on home soil, taking a fantastic home race podium.
