For the third time in its history, the Formula 3 Euro Series is going to race at the Circuit de Catalunya, this weekend. Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix), Formula 1 test driver for the Williams team, travels to the 2.977-kilometre circuit located close to Barcelona as championship leader. Currently, Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus) is his toughest opponent. Furthermore, the Italian who currently holds second position in the championship won one of the two rounds of last year’s Barcelona weekend. While Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam), the other man who celebrated a race win at Barcelona, in 2007, follows in third position.

Renger van der Zande wins at Hockenheim from Christian Vietoris

Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam) won the second season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series. At the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, the 22-year old Dutchman was 4.556 seconds faster than second-placed Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport). The two Volkswagen drivers Edoardo Mortara and Franck Mailleux (both Signature-Plus) occupied third and fourth place. In the overall classification, Italian Mortara is leading after two rounds, tied with Mika Mäki (Mücke Motorsport). Both have ten points. Finnish driver, Mäki, retired after a collision with Jean-Karl Vernay (Signature-Plus).
