 After a month-long mid-season break, the Formula Renault 3.5 cars returned to action at Spa-Francorchamps. Fairuz Fauzy (Cram Compétition) recorded the best time in the half-day of collective testing, to finish ahead of Clivio Piccione (RC Motorsport). Championship rivals Filipe Albuquerque (Epsilon Euskadi) and Alvaro Parente (Tech 1 Racing) were not far behind the top two.

So far this season, first at Zolder and then at the Nürburgring, Pedro Petiz and Dimitri Enjalbert have picked up race wins or podium finishes at every opportunity. Going into the third meeting of the season, the two Tech 1 Racing Juniors already have twice as many points as their nearest challenger, Ralph Meichtry (Race Performance). The battle is far from over, but, on a Hungaroring circuit that is new to everyone, the outsiders will need an immediate change in their fortunes if they are to claw their way back into the title race

After a break of over two months, the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 drivers are due to meet up again at the Hungaroring for the third round of the season. Six drivers have already moved clear at the top of the overall standings, but there is little between them. Who from Hartley, Pic, Turvey, Waldschmidt, Kechele and Mäki will end the summer as leader?

Whether it be Sebastian Vettel’s impressive F1 debut at Indianapolis, Guillaume Moreau taking part in the Le Mans 24-hour race or Giedo van der Garde testing with the Spyker F1 team, some World Series Formula Renault 3.5 drivers have found plenty to keep themselves busy during the long mid-season break, which will come to end in mid-July with the Hungaroring meeting! The Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0’s talented young drivers have also been in action with the rounds of their respective national championships…
